Summary

Koenigsegg unveiled the CCGT1 at Monterey Car Week as a track-focused but road-legal hypercar designed to honor the brand's cancelled GT1 racing project from the mid-2000s.

Limited to a production run of 70 units that are already sold out, the vehicle features a twin-turbo V-8 producing up to 1600 horsepower and debuts the Koenigsegg Sequential Shift interface.

Revealed during the 2026 Monterey Car Week, the Koenigsegg CCGT1 represents a high-performance evolution of the CC850 architecture. The manufacturer built this street-legal model to revive the spirit of its original GT1 competition car. That mid-2000s project paired a lightweight chassis with a naturally aspirated V-8 but was cancelled before competing due to FIA regulation changes. Today, the modern tribute delivers endurance racing characteristics to a homologated platform. All 70 planned units are already sold.

Powering the new hypercar is a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine that delivers 1280 horsepower on standard pump fuel and 1600 horsepower on E85 biofuel. Engineers equipped the powertrain with a bespoke roof scoop and enhanced cooling systems to handle sustained circuit abuse. The vehicle also debuts the Koenigsegg Sequential Shift system. This interface utilizes a nine-speed Light Speed Transmission paired with a manual clutch pedal for takeoff. Subsequent gears are managed via a race-style sequential shifter positioned near the steering wheel utilizing ignition-cut technology for clutchless operation. Buyers preferring a different feel can option the Engage Shift System to swap the sequential stick for a six-speed gated manual with an automatic mode.

Aerodynamics guided the exterior design process. Nearly every body panel is unique to this model to maximize cooling and downforce. The active rear wing automatically adjusts 30 degrees between low drag, air brake and high downforce modes. A redesigned front splitter and a bespoke rear diffuser help generate 1764 pounds of downforce at 155 mph. The exterior introduces a proprietary material called Ghost Fibre. Developed as a crystal-white aramid and carbon matrix, this material boasts ballistic protective characteristics while being lighter and more sound-absorbent than traditional carbon fiber.

Buyers looking for peak circuit performance can specify a factory-supported Track Package for the first time in the company’s history. This modular upgrade includes a carbon roll cage, HANS-compatible racing seats, a fire suppression system and an aggressive race exhaust. Track-focused suspension tuning, air jacks and a second set of rims fitted with track-optimized tires complete the kit. Certified dealers can install or remove these components to transition the car between street and circuit configurations. Inside the standard cabin, drivers will find lightweight carbon fiber bucket seats, six-point harnesses and a toggle to prime the fuel pump alongside traditional luxury finishes.
