Searchlight Pictures has officially released the first trailer for Behemoth!. Directed and written by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Tony Gilroy, the highly anticipated musical drama marks the director’s return to the feature film space and showcases actor Pedro Pascal in a rare, deeply personal leading role.
The narrative follows Alex Serian, portrayed by Pascal, a classically trained cellist who returns home to Los Angeles after spending 20 years on the road. Described by Pascal as a “love letter to music” and a “love letter to movies,” the film explores themes of legacy, healing, and family. The project marks Gilroy’s first directorial feature since 2012’s The Bourne Legacy, blending a traditional family drama with an experimental approach to musical orchestration.
The production features an expansive ensemble cast including Olivia Wilde, Eva Victor, Alexa Swinton, Kaya Ralls, Erik Griffin, JoBeth Williams, Margarita Levieva, Hank Azaria, and Will Arnett. To support the film’s distinct sonic identity, Gilroy collaborated with a group of nine prominent composers—including James Newton Howard and Alan Silvestri—who wrote the majority of the score’s musical cues before principal photography officially wrapped.
Behemoth! is officially scheduled to release in theaters on December 4, 2026.
