SUMMARY

  • Hypebeast Magazine is bypassing your traditional print launch to host a car pop-up in New York City with Don Toliver
  • The event celebrates Don Toliver’s cover story for Issue 37: The Architects Issue by bringing his automotive inspirations into the physical world
  • Attendees will gain access to see one of the cars that inspired his latest album, look through our latest print issue and pick up limited-edition merchandise

Hypebeast Magazine and Don Toliver are joining forces to celebrate the launch of Issue 37: The Architects Issue with a live, automotive-centric pop-up experience in New York City. Moving away from standard editorial launch events, the collaborative activation brings the Houston artist’s latest cover story to life by taking over CART Department‘s Free Parking gallery.

The event serves as an experiential extension of Don Toliver’s cover story inside Issue 37. The cover story explores the musician’s lifelong obsession with cars and how that specific subculture helped shape Octane, his first No. 1 album. To reflect that narrative, the single-day event replaces the traditional gallery space with a single car display designed to give fans a closer look at the exact automotive influences that inspired his latest creative chapter.

Taking place at CART Department’s Free Parking activation space, the afternoon will be a celebration of automotive culture. Visitors to the Manhattan location will have the opportunity to view one of Toliver’s vehicles on display, browse the physical pages of the new print issue and pick up limited-edition merchandise created specifically for the activation.
