Universal Genève, historically revered as “Le Couturier de la Montre,” is making a highly anticipated return to the forefront of fine watchmaking. Relocating to its historic home on Geneva’s Rue du Rhône, the revitalized Maison is reviving its legacy of uniting technical mastery with a profound aesthetic sensibility. The brand’s new portfolio is meticulously structured into Polerouter, Compax, Cabriolet, Disco Mini to Couture and Signature collections, offering everything from everyday elegance to high-jewelry masterpieces.

The cornerstone of the relaunch is the modern incarnation of the Polerouter, a legendary model originally conceived in 1954 by Gérald Genta for Scandinavian Airlines’ pioneering polar flights. The contemporary Polerouter honors its mid-century design codes, such as the signature crosshair dial, outer tension ring, and twisted lugs, while refining its dimensions for the modern wearer. At its heart beats the newly developed UG-110 Microtor movement, a sleek 3.8mm self-winding caliber that delivers a 72-hour power reserve. Available in 37mm and 39mm Prêt-à-Porter models, as well as artistic Capsule editions featuring fibrous stone dials and camaïeu colorways, the new Polerouter seamlessly blends mechanical innovation with sophisticated, versatile style.

Universal Genève is also reviving the Compax, a storied 1960s sports chronograph that evolved into a cultural phenomenon thanks to Finnish model Nina Rindt. Often photographed trackside timing her husband Jochen Rindt’s Formula One laps, she popularized the watch’s iconic black-and-white “panda” dial and rugged leather bund strap. The relaunched Compax respects this mid-century aesthetic with 39.5mm cases, ceramic tachymeter bezels, and vintage-inspired applied hour index counters. These timepieces are powered by the new UG-200 movement, an impressive 6.63mm caliber that integrates a micro-rotor, a column-wheel chronograph, and a 72-hour power reserve. The collection also features fashion-forward Capsule editions, pairing translucent linen-patterned dials with denim-style leather straps for a playful, contemporary twist.

The Maison’s relaunch further explores the intersection of art and mechanics with the Cabriolet and the Disco Mini. Originally launched in 1933 as the “Ideo,” the Cabriolet is an Art Deco masterpiece famous for its reversible flipping case designed to protect the dial. Today, it returns as a dual canvas for creative expression, utilizing Cassandre’s bold Bifur typography and offering bespoke miniature caseback paintings inspired by Tamara de Lempicka. Complementing this is the entirely new Disco Mini collection, a line of women’s watches inspired by mid-century “Disco Volante” silhouettes and post-war couture glamour. Featuring a lugless, rounded design, the 28mm and 32mm Disco Mini models operate on a versatile bangle system that allows wearers to effortlessly swap to vibrant leather or Julien Faure tweed straps.

As the grand highlight of the relaunch, Universal Genève introduces its Couture Creations and Signature Timepieces, representing the absolute pinnacle of the Maison’s capabilities. The Couture Creations elevate watchmaking to high jewelry, featuring singular, unique pieces like the 42mm Disco Maxi – adorned with a ruby root dial and a vivid gradient of baguette-cut sapphires – and the Dioramic, which pairs a domed imperial jade dial with an intricate lattice of emeralds. Complementing these bespoke works are the Signature Timepieces, which offer time-limited, faithful reinterpretations of historic icons such as the original 1956 Dioramic and the lugless Uni-Compax “Disco Volante”. Together, these two tiers complete Universal Genève’s creative vision, ensuring that its rich heritage continues to shape the future of haute horlogerie.

First deliveries for this new era of Universal Genève novelties are slated for fall 2026. For more information, visit the Maison’s official website.
