Lionsgate has released the official trailer for Mutiny, the latest action-thriller starring Jason Statham. Directed by Jean-François Richet—who previously helmed the 2023 hit Plane—the film features Statham as Cole Reed, a former Special Forces soldier and NYPD officer now working in private security. The trailer confirms an August 21 theatrical debut, marking Statham’s second major release of 2026 following January’s Shelter.
The narrative centers on Reed, who witnesses the murder of his billionaire industrialist boss and friend, Tibu. After being framed for the crime, Reed goes on the run, eventually boarding a cargo ship where he discovers an international conspiracy hidden within the vessel’s layers. Suggested imagery from the trailer highlights Statham’s “one-man crusade” for justice, featuring tight-quarters combat and explosive set pieces consistent with his previous work in The Beekeeper.
Supporting the ensemble is Annabelle Wallis as the female lead, alongside Jason Wong, Roland Møller, and Adrian Lester. The film is produced by Statham’s own Punch Palace Productions and MadRiver Pictures, utilizing an original script by Lindsay Michel and J.P. Davis. Following its theatrical window, the movie is reportedly set to premiere on Sky Cinema in the United Kingdom later this year as a Sky Original.
