Watches are timeless collectibles made to mark meaningful moments, and for Stephon Castle, last year was full of milestones. As a guard for the San Antonio Spurs, Castle is renowned for his work ethic and versatility on the court. His dedication to the game earned him the 2025 Rookie of the Year title, which he happily accepted wearing a standout watch on his wrist.
Castle grew up influenced by the watches his dad wore and admired. Now, he’s forging his own collection, adding new models that signify his own personal and professional accomplishments. Castle even shared that one of his teammates bought special pieces for the entire team when they won the National Championship — and he’s just getting started. “It all happened really fast. Last year was a pivotal year in my career. I dreamed about this for a long time as a kid, but I didn’t expect it to happen the way it did. I’m thankful for it,” he expressed.
In partnership with Watches of Switzerland, the athlete looked back on his basketball journey through the lens of three timepieces. Each watch marked a different chapter: his sophomore-year Rookie era, where everything began to click; his current chapter in the league; and a final, aspirational piece that reflects where he hopes to go next in his NBA career.
For his first selection, Castle picked the Watches of Switzerland Tissot PRX Powermatic 80. The PRX Powermatic 80 was inspired by its 1978 predecessor, and shows off a 40 mm forged carbon case with a black bezel. The innovative material ensures that the piece is both lightweight, yet durable, in even the most demanding conditions. “This Tissot PRX Powermatic reminds me of the watch I wore for draft night,” he reflected. “That was a very special night for me.”

Castle then chose the Watches of Switzerland Grand Seiko Elegance GMT as the watch that reflects his current career progression. The Grand Seiko Elegance GMT is a classic, travel-ready piece that aligns with the basketball player’s on-the-go schedule. “Year one was a bit more frantic, but this year feels a lot more calculated,” he expressed. This composed, understated piece mirrors the composure he now brings to the table on the court.

For his dream watch, Castle picked out the Watches of Switzerland Ulysse Nardin Freak S Enamel, the first luxury watch to ever incorporate silicone elements. Its caliber technology and hands-free display revolutionized the watch industry in the same way that Castle hopes to pave his own distinct path in basketball. “This watch represents what I want to accomplish in the future. Hopefully lots of championships — I see a lot of winning in my future,” he shared.

“I don’t try to put a ceiling on how well we can do. By the end of my career, when people look back on it I want them to be able to say I hade a very different career. I’ve done stuff that guys have never done before in the league,” Castle concluded. Coming off of an outstanding sophomore year, Castle is determined to rack up the trophies and maybe some new watches along the way.
