There’s a New Place to Buy Trending Furniture in the UK

German furniture and homeware label Westwing has opened up its online shop to the UK, in a bid to tap into one of the world’s most “exciting and influential design scenes”.

Since it was founded in 2011 – a time at which buying furniture online wasn’t particularly easy – Westwing has made a mission of not sitting in the “Scandi” or “Italian” bracket when it comes to furniture, and instead blends European design styles amongst its offering.

Now, it arrives in London, with a tailored collection that reflects the British market.

“The UK has a very confident and individual approach to style, and we see a strong appreciation for design-led living that goes beyond trends,” founder Delia Lachance told Hypebeast. “British customers are curious, creative and open to mixing influences, from heritage pieces to more contemporary European design.”

In response to this preference, the team has curated a selection of furniture alongside local partners, alongside the typical international brands like Kartell, Le Creuset, Trudon, Louis Poulsen, and Georg Jensen.

According to Lachance, the brand plans to further engage with the UK scene as time goes on, with collaborations slated to happen alongside artists and designers within the community.

“The UK has one of the most exciting and influential design scenes in the world, and engaging with that creative energy is a big part of our vision as we launch here,” she said.

“Collaboration is at the heart of how we stay connected to culture, whether that’s working with designers, artists or brands that bring a fresh perspective to interiors as we continue to build meaningful connections within the UK design community.”
