LEGO Is Finally Releasing Super Mario Minifigures
Nintendo and LEGO are set to drop the builds in 2027.
Summary
- Nintendo and LEGO have officially confirmed the upcoming release of a traditional Mario minifigure
- The announcement arrived via a short teaser video showcasing Mario emerging from an iconic green pipe
- New sets featuring the classic minifigure scale will launch sometime in 2027
The highly anticipated LEGO Super Mario Minifigure is officially on the way, marking a major milestone for the long-running partnership. Following nearly six years of interactive, electronic playsets, Nintendo and LEGO are finally delivering the classic minifigure experience that fans and collectors have been requesting.
A recent teaser from the official Nintendo of America account provided a first look at the new figure. Based on the initial imagery, the design features a completely new head mold and a custom hat piece tailored specifically to the beloved plumber. Rather than utilizing dual-molded legs, the figure appears to feature printed detailing on the bottom of the feet to represent Mario’s signature shoes.
This upcoming release is expected to usher in a new wave of minifigure-scale sets. These builds will likely recreate iconic locations and levels from the franchise, operating independently from the previously established interactive theme that utilized boxy, screen-equipped figures. While additional characters like Luigi and Peach have not been officially shown in this new format, the custom tooling of Mario’s headpiece opens the door for a fully realized line of traditional figures.
