To mark its 40th anniversary, Jacob & Co. has unveiled the Angel Cut, a patented and proprietary diamond cut developed in-house over two years of refinement. Named after founder Jacob Arabo‘s wife, Angela, the cut features precisely 37 facets to commemorate their 37 years of marriage. This technical innovation addresses a traditional gemology challenge by maximizing the light return and optical performance of rectangular stones without sacrificing as much rough material as traditional brilliant cuts. By utilizing a distinctive lozenge-shaped table and stepped rectangular outline, the Angel Cut delivers a controlled, highly dimensional brilliance with reduced extinction, creating a continuous glow across the surface of the diamond.
The first timepiece to showcase this new diamond architecture is the Billionaire Double Tourbillon Angel Cut. The watch features a substantial 54mm x 41mm case crafted from 18K white gold, illuminated by 98 Angel Cut diamonds totaling approximately 51.13 carats. The uninterrupted display of light extends to the 18K white gold dial, which is invisibly set with an additional 88 Angel Cut diamonds and 80 baguette-cut white diamonds framing twin tourbillon apertures. In total, the timepiece is adorned with nearly 300 white diamonds weighing approximately 79 carats.
Powering the watch is the exclusive hand-wound JCAM50 caliber, a 460-component movement featuring two one-minute flying tourbillons positioned symmetrically at 12 and 6 o’clock to provide mechanical balance beneath the fully pavéd dial. Secured with a blue alligator leather strap featuring a diamond-set 18K white gold deployment buckle, the watch offers a 72-hour power reserve and water resistance up to 30 meters.
