Did You Hear? Emma Chamberlain Designs Furniture Now
Inspired by her love for mid-century modernism.
In collaboration with West Elm, Emma Chamberlain has designed a furniture and homeware collection that shuns minimalism for a warm, homely aesthetic.
Marking the latest in a series of creators turning their hand to interior design, the 150-piece collection, developed with West Elm’s in-house team, focuses on furniture, lighting, and textiles designed for small spaces.
Inspiration came from Chamberlain’s love for vintage, mid-century modern design objects that she’s picked up over the years, and key items include a vanity, a lacquered storage pillar, and a stainless-steel coffee set, each of which lean into rounded silhouettes and “lounge-forward” proportions.
“I’ve slowly collected vintage art and objects over the years,” Chamberlain told us. “When I find something I love, I know immediately. It’s like love at first sight. A soulmate situation.”
In terms of how this influenced her own collection: “I think that’s the key to making a home timeless, filling it with things that make you smile.”
Some of the designs across the collection incorporate motifs specific to Chamberlain’s personal life, including graphics based on her tattoos. Elements like clovers, apples, and lighthouses appear throughout the textiles and accessories, blending nostalgic patterns with modern finishes like chrome and lacquer.
“My home decor philosophy is pretty simple, I believe the home should invite you to live in it,” she added.
“The colors should draw you in, the objects should feel approachable and lighthearted, every seat should ask you to stay awhile, and every piece should be as functional as it is charming, creating a home that not only looks beautiful, but feels beautiful.”
