Summary

  • Document’s SS26 collection “The Signature Study” reinterprets iconic staples through repetition and difference
  • The range prioritizes “structure over signs” with garment-dyed indigo, navy and special black tones dominating the lineup
  • Key pieces include garment-dyed painter pants, field jackets and book-logo sweats

Document’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection, titled “The Signature Study,” explores repetition and difference through a refined lens, reinterpreting familiar garments and materials into new forms.

Moving away from the mere creation of new logos, the collection functions as an analytical “re-reading” and “re-folding” of the structures that define the brand. Guided by the philosophical prompt that “Signature is a structure, not a sign,” the mood of the collection is one of quiet stillness and intentionality, inviting wearers to view clothing not just as a product, but as a “process of becoming”.

The collection highlights a curated, shared archive of Document’s most iconic and repeated staples, all reimagined for a new era. Among the highlights are garment-dyed painter pants, field jackets and book-logo sweats, each reworked with subtle shifts in proportion and finish. The collection also introduces indigo-dyed and navy pieces, alongside a special black tone designed to evoke the patina of garments aged through time. Materials such as U.S. Army back satin are central, treated with aged washes, stone hand-finishing, and re-dyeing processes that emphasize surface tension and visible seams. These techniques transform fabric into a record of memory, where wear and fading are not incidental but deliberately designed.

The palette is anchored in navy, indigo and black, softened through garment dyeing and aged washing to create depth and tactility. Subtle tonal variations highlight the folds and textures of each piece, reinforcing the idea that surface is a record of time. The overall effect is one of quiet sophistication: clothes that resist flash, instead offering depth, wisdom and a sense of continuity.
