  • The winner and two special mentions will be announced on May 12 ahead of the finalist presentation at the National Gallery in Singapore, running from May 13 through June 14

Loewe’s craft-forward beginnings trace back to the quiet leather workshop in 1840’s Madrid. Now a global phenomenon, the house has always considered itself a creative incubator at heart, inviting craftspeople of all backgrounds for a dialogue of fashion and art. Former creative director Jonathan Anderson’s decade-long tenure was characterized by an ardent return to artisanal excellence and innovation, leading him to launch the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize in 2016, one of the most highly anticipated annual fashion-art crossovers.

The Loewe Foundation has just announced the shortlist for the Craft Prize’s 2026 edition, presenting its 30-artist lineup drawn from a pool of 5,100 submissions. The shortlisted works will go on view in a special group exhibition at the National Gallery Singapore from May 13 through June 14.

The overall winner and two special mentions will be announced ahead of the exhibition on May 12. The winner will be awarded €50,000 EUR, while the two special mentions will each receive €5,000 EUR. This year, the foundation with partner with Belmond to launch three two-month residencies for selected artists at La Residencia in Mallorca.

This panel of judges will be chaired by Sheila Loewe, the foundation’s president, beside leading figures from design, architecture and art. Among them are the 2025 winner Kunimasa Aoki, Frida Escobedo, Patricia Urquiola, Antonia Boström, alongside Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, the brand’s new creative directors, joining the jury for the first time.

Per a press release, the 2026 selection “approached making as a careful negotiation between balance, instability and tension,” pairing cultural tradition with contemporary mediation. The selected artists bring forth a diverse range of mediums, including book binding, ceramics, woodworking, textiles, furniture, glass, metal, lacquer and jewelry.

“The Craft Prize continues to reveal the extraordinary diversity and ambition of contemporary craft,” Sheila Loewe expressed. “The works shortlisted for the 2026 edition demonstrate how deeply rooted traditions can be reimagined through innovation, skill and imagination. Bringing this exhibition to Singapore reflects the global dialogue at the heart of the Prize and our ongoing commitment to supporting artists at pivotal moments in their careers.”
