ISSEY MIYAKE EYES has announced the launch of “UROKO”, a new and innovative eyewear model inspired by the organic, scale-like patterns found in the works of renowned Japanese ceramicist Shoji Kamoda.
Developed in collaboration with Kaneko Optical, “UROKO” debuted as part of the IM MEN SS26 “DANCING TEXTURE” collection. The design pays homage to Kamoda’s innovative surface treatments, specifically his “uroko” (scale) motifs. By merging cutting-edge 3D printing technology with traditional Japanese craftsmanship, the brand has achieved a complex, sculptural form that possesses a delicate and meticulously treated surface, giving each piece a truly unique presence.
Crafted in Japan, the Uroko model features lightweight titanium construction, ensuring durability while maintaining comfort for everyday wear. The brushed finish highlights the angular contours of the frame, while the layered detailing creates a play of shadow and texture that recalls the overlapping scales of traditional Japanese patterns. Available in both optical and sunglass variations, the design emphasizes clarity and understated refinement, aligning with the brand’s broader approach to functional elegance.
Priced at ¥99,000 JPY (approx. $632 USD), the “UROKO” model will be available through ISSEY MIYAKE starting February 27, 2026.
