Singer d4vd, real name David Anthony Burke, has been named as a “target” in a Los Angeles grand jury investigation concerning the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The 20-year-old artist is facing scrutiny after the discovery of the teen’s remains in a vehicle registered to his name.

According to court documents unsealed on Wednesday and obtained by The Associated Press, the investigation centers on the discovery made on September 8, 2025. Rivas Hernandez’s body was found in the front trunk of a 2023 Tesla Model Y registered to Burke. The vehicle had been towed to a yard after being left seemingly abandoned in a Hollywood Hills neighborhood.

The subpoena details a grim scene, stating investigators found a cadaver bag in the front storage compartment that was “covered with insects” and emitting a strong odor. The documents describe the body as “severely decomposed” and reveal that the victim had been dismembered, with severed limbs discovered in a second bag placed beneath the first. Rivas Hernandez, who was 14 at the time of her death, had been reported missing from Lake Elsinore, California, in 2024.

Prosecutors issued subpoenas on January 15 requiring Burke’s mother, father, and brother to testify. While the unsealed filings note that the target “may be involved in having committed… One count of Murder,” authorities have not formally charged d4vd with a crime. A judge in Texas recently ordered the family members to appear in California to provide testimony.

Reps for d4vd did not respond for comment.

Stay tuned for more updates.
