Anya Taylor-Joy stars as the titular Lucky, a woman whose survival instincts are put to the ultimate test when a multi-million-dollar score unravels. The series is co-showrun and executive produced by Jonathan Tropper and Cassie Pappas, with Tropper also serving as the primary writer. The project boasts a formidable supporting cast, including Oscar nominee Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Drew Starkey. Directed in part by Jonathan van Tulleken, the series aims to blend the tension of a traditional heist movie with a deep, character-driven exploration of identity and redemption.
The production represents the latest hit from Hello Sunshine for Apple TV+, following the success of The Morning Show and The Last Thing He Told Me. As an executive producer, Taylor-Joy has been deeply involved in the creative development, ensuring the adaptation maintains the sharp, twist-filled narrative that made the original novel a Reese’s Book Club selection. The teaser trailer revealed at the press event showcases a non-linear structure, hinting at Lucky’s complicated past and the high-octane pursuits that define her present. The story follows Lucky Armstrong (Anya Taylor-Joy), a brilliant but troubled grifter who was raised on the road by her father, learning every trick of the con artist trade. The series kicks off with a multi-million-dollar heist that goes catastrophically wrong. While Lucky manages to escape the immediate fallout, she discovers a life-changing complication: she is in possession of a winning lottery ticket worth $390 million USD.
Lucky will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on July 15, 2026, with the first two episodes, followed by weekly installments every Wednesday through August 19.
