Analogue is set to release its most nostalgic collection yet with the Analogue 3D Prototype Limited Editions, a series of FPGA-based N64 consoles finished in “lost” Nintendo colorways. Scheduled for release on February 9, these versions move beyond the previously released Funtastic range to replicate five specific injection-molded prototypes that were market-tested by Nintendo of Europe but ultimately buried. Each unit features a modern backbone capable of 4K output while perfectly mimicking the aesthetic of hardware that hasn’t been seen outside of private collections for three decades.
The Prototype Limited Editions serve as a high-fidelity tribute to Nintendo’s experimental mid-’90s era. Analogue spent over a year reverse-engineering the exact plastic formulations to recreate the transparent shells of Extreme Green, Ocean, Ghost, Glacier, and the fan-favorite Atomic Purple. Unlike standard emulation, the 3D’s architecture provides a hardware-level recreation of original N64 circuitry, ensuring zero input lag and 100% cartridge compatibility for the entire library.
To complete the retro experience, Analogue has partnered again with 8BitDo to offer color-matched wireless 64 Bluetooth controllers. These matching peripherals retail for $44.99 USD each and are designed to complement the translucent aesthetic of the consoles. While the consoles themselves are scheduled to begin shipping within 24 to 48 hours of purchase, the 8BitDo controllers are currently slated for their first shipments in April 2026.
The Analogue 3D Prototype Limited Editions go on sale February 9 exclusively through the Analogue webstore.
