Ghost of Tsushima: Legends anime is delayed to 2028, confirmed at NYCC 2026.
Mayumi Sako and Shinya Fukumatsu join the adaptation's voice cast.
Additional staff members will ensure the series maintains the game's authentic aesthetic.
Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will arrive later than originally planned, with Crunchyroll confirming that the anime adaptation has been pushed from its previously announced 2027 window to 2028. The updated timing was revealed during Crunchyroll’s New York Comic Con 2026 panel, where attendees were also shown an exclusive work-in-progress preview of the series; no reason for the delay has been given.
Alongside the revised release window, Mayumi Saco and Shinya Fukumatsu were announced as part of the Japanese voice cast in currently undisclosed roles. Saco notably voiced Tomoe in the original Ghost of Tsushima game, while Fukumatsu is known for roles including Bomb in One-Punch Man. The series will stream exclusively on Crunchyroll when it premieres in 2028.
First announced at CES 2025, the anime adapts Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, the supernatural cooperative multiplayer mode introduced to Sucker Punch Productions’ 2020 action-adventure game, rather than directly retelling Jin Sakai’s main campaign. Takanobu Mizuno, who directed Star Wars: Visions short “The Duel,” remains at the helm at Kamikaze Douga, with Gen Urobuchi overseeing series composition and co-writing the screenplay with Renji Oki, while Afro Samurai creator Takashi Okazaki handles character design.
Newly confirmed staff include Keiji Inai as composer, Yoshikazu Iwanami as sound director, Yasumasa Koyama on sound effects and calligrapher Gyousyou Suzuki on the title treatment. The anime is produced by HAYATE in collaboration with Aniplex and PlayStation Productions, with Sony Music serving as its music and soundtrack partner, positioning the project as one of the most prominent crossovers between PlayStation’s gaming catalog and Sony’s expanding anime operations.
