Arkadia-Life’s P01 Classic Sofa is a single-seat lounger built to look like a vintage sports car, and it’s packed with more hidden features than most living rooms. The design brand, which keeps a showroom in Shanghai and credits Italian master artisans for its work, draws on what it calls “legendary iconic automobiles” under its “The One and Always” philosophy, turning a classic coupe silhouette into a collectible piece of furniture.
The car references run deep. Round bug-eye headlights and amber indicators sit up front, slim chrome bumpers wrap the body, and twin exhaust tips peek out beneath an engraved rear plaque. Arkadia-Life only ever cites 1960s GT sports cars as its inspiration, but the long-hood proportions read unmistakably like an early Porsche 911. The paint list adds to the case: GT Silver and Jet Green come standard, while Miami Blue, Crayon and Speed Yellow cost extra.
The seat itself is upholstered in channel-quilted cowhide, pleated like a vintage bucket seat and offered in eight leather colors. Despite the “sofa” name, it holds just one person.
Storage is where the P01 earns its keep. The rear lid lifts on small prop rods, much like an old engine cover, to reveal seven compartments. Inside are a refrigerator measuring 8.7 x 13.4 x 5.5 inches, wine storage, adjustable cup holders and a wireless charging pad. Both rear fenders also swing open into drawers sized for watches and model cars, a detail that makes the target buyer pretty clear.
Sound runs through a UK-made SENSONUM system that pairs a professional amplifier and subwoofer with 13 speakers for surround-style playback. It streams over Bluetooth, and a dedicated app lets owners tune the sound to taste. Rather than buttons, the P01 is controlled through five knock-sensing panels built into the bodywork, a setup Arkadia-Life bills as an industry first. Multicolor ambient lighting glows from beneath the side sills and can shift to suit the room’s mood, and the system is rated at 500W.
Arkadia-Life says the chair brings together hundreds of precision components and is protected by multiple global patents, with a level of finish it compares to watchmaking. The whole piece weighs 485 pounds. Buyers can personalize the automotive-grade paint across nine colors, choose their upholstery and add a custom-engraved, license-plate-style plaque.
The Arkadia-Life P01 Classic Sofa is available to order now through Arkadia-Life’s website on a quote basis, starting at $30,000 USD.
