Atelier Wen has unveiled the Perception “Xuán” (漩), the second edition of its annual community-driven Millésime series designed to celebrate and elevate the perception of Chinese horology.
This new “vintage” edition marks the first major update to the Perception line in over a year, replacing the signature guilloché dial with a meticulously crafted natural pietersite stone dial. The stone was specifically selected for its swirling blue-black and gold tones, which evoke the aesthetic of shānshuǐ pénjǐng (山水盆景) — traditional Chinese mountain-water landscape gardens that historically served as the symbolic and visual centers of architectural compounds.
The watch case is crafted from high-grade stainless steel and maintains the integrated bracelet sports watch look that has become Atelier Wen’s hallmark. Challenges in production were significant, as the natural brittleness of pietersite required a delicate hand-wirecutting process in Zhejiang to achieve the twelve precise cut-outs for the hour indices while maintaining enough thickness for structural integrity. Beneath the stone dial beats a customized, extra-thin Peacock SL1588A automatic calibre, which is exhaustively tested and adjusted in five positions to ensure daily reliability.
Priced at $3,600 USD, the Perception “Xuán” timepiece will be available through an open order window via the brand’s website, running from January 28 to February 6, 2026. All subsequent orders placed during the window will be delivered in batches in Q2 and Q4 this year.
