Mysterious Japanese music collective ZUTOMAYO has partnered with Orion to unveil the SCR-B9(Z) Limited Edition boombox — an homage to Orion’s iconic 1970s/’80s SCR-B9 “radical cassette” model. Adorned with the band’s signature phrase “ずっと真夜中でいいのに。” (“It would be nice if it were midnight all the time”), the unit marries vintage charm and bold graphic cues with a sleek contemporary finish.
Beneath its retro-inspired shell, the SCR-B9(Z) delivers 20 watts of punch via dual 10-watt Hyperwoofer drivers. Listeners can spin cassettes and CDs, complete with anti-shock memory, tune FM radio, or stream wirelessly over Bluetooth®. USB and microSD slots handle MP3 files, while analog VU meters and tactile knobs evoke the hands-on rituals of hi-fi’s golden era. For true portability, it runs on dry-cell batteries.
