The beauty that comes after the bloom is the theme of XLIM‘s EP. 8 collection, the latest chapter in the South Korean streetwear label’s episodic line of apparel and accessories. Following a colorful Summer rooted in its EP. 7, designer Dohee Kim steers the label in a pared-back direction, stripping back complexity and extravagance for a refined Fall line.
In line with the metaphorical collection title, “After the Bloom,” XLIM presents a mature facet of the label’s aesthetic. Standing out is a side-profile shot showing a pre-aged black leather coat, styled with a cream-colored Western hat with a paneled construction. On the back of multiple outerwear pieces, a blank patch detail is centered behind the collar — evoking the deconstructed aesthetic of designers like Martin Margiela.
Color comes in small doses, including a peach-hued look with a gradient dyed jacket and pants, and an aqua headscarf. However, black and white photographs — including a menswear look comprising a collared leather jacket and washed denim with oversized patch pockets — emphasize the season’s focus on shape and details. Elsewhere, all-black looks feature heavily layered styling, stacking knitwear with hooded denim jackets, puffers, headscarves, gloves, and shades. The collection debuts a down padding that blends leather and cotton in the lightweight Detroit jacket.
