Grand Seiko has unveiled the SLGB005 “Violet Dawn,” the latest Spring Drive U.F.A. creation that captures the serene beauty of a frost-kissed dawn in Shinshu’s Kirigamine Highlands. As the third Ice Forest model and the first U.F.A. timepiece crafted from Ever-Brilliant Steel, the SLGB005 features a dial textured like crystalline frost and suffused in deep violet that brightens toward the center. This vivid backdrop accentuates the seamless glide of the silvered seconds hand, a visual metaphor for time’s tranquil unfolding.
Through the sapphire-crystal caseback, the Spring Drive Caliber 9RB2 architecture is revealed in frosted bridges that evoke snow-laden boughs and jewel bearings that sparkle like alpine starlight. Its three-month-aged quartz oscillator and sensor are vacuum-sealed to shield against temperature, humidity, static and light, while an IC-driven thermo-compensation system ensures ±20 seconds-per-year precision. A discreet regulation switch allows after-sales fine-tuning, safeguarding the SLGB005’s U.F.A. accuracy over years of wear.
Embodying the Evolution 9 Collection’s design ethos, the 37mm Ever-Brilliant Steel case alternates distortion-free Zaratsu polishing with soft brushing. Prominent grooved indices and sword-shaped hands deliver exceptional legibility against the violet dial, and the low-center-of-gravity profile, paired with a robust Ever-Brilliant Steel bracelet, ensures balanced, comfortable wear.
Limited to 1,300 pieces worldwide and priced at $11,100 USD/£9,500 GBP, the SLGB005 “Violet Dawn” Spring Drive U.F.A. Edition arrives at Grand Seiko Boutiques and select retail partners in November 2025.
