18 East, the New York-based apparel brand known for its handcrafted pieces that blend texture and functionality, is collaborating with ASICS for their take on the GEL-Nimbus 10.1. In the statement made by 18 East, the design inspiration is a fascinating contrast of fast and slow, utilizing organic textiles defined as “slow” in a “fast” sports-style model.
Landing in a grey base formed by grey hemp and cotton mesh, it features black synthetic underlays across the upper with purple edges finishing the look. The meticulous blend of texture and material is continued across the canvas panel, from the toe to the forefoot and heel, showcasing the quality and craftsmanship of this unique collaboration. For an extra touch of style, the ASICS stripes on the side are made with a semi-transparent material, outlined in green and white stitching. To increase the uniformity of the silhouette, the heel and forefeet’s Gel-cushioning used the same green and purple hues, respectively.
The 18 East x ASICS Gel-Nimbus 10.1 will be launched exclusively at the 18 East store in New York on September 26. For those outside New York, the product will be available online and at the Los Angeles retail store from September 27.
