Salehe Bembury is one of the footwear industry’s most prominent collaborators. The veteran designer’s journey, from working on Versace sneakers to spearheading his own line at Crocs, is one that’s treated sneakerheads to countless unique creations. To reflect on his ever-expanding portfolio, he has a book with Rizzoli, Salehe Bembury: I Make Shoes, releasing later this year. His 15 years of experience are not only culminating in this retrospective, but the launch of his own footwear brand as well.
Teasers of a new model from Bembury have captured the attention of fans recently. A compilation of the various pairs previewed sees a variety of colorways present, from a bold blue with orange to all-gray with pink accents. Each iteration sees a layered upper combine with a textured sole unit. The shoes also sport a callout to Spunge, Bembury’s brand, which has been a vehicle for collaboration in the past. Looking to the lateral, a Spunge-branded stitched tag is accompanied by a six-point logo at the midfoot. One of the shoe’s defining features is its squish technology, which sees cushioning burst out of the midsole with each step.
No release details regarding the debut of Spunge’s first in-line shoe have been shared just yet. However, one pair sports Rizzoli branding at the forefoot, indicating the possibility of a collaborative launch to coincide with the publishing of his book, which is set to take place in mid October.
