Salomon’s XT-Whisper continues to remain top of mind for the footwear imprint, continuously reimagining the silhouette and expanding its universe by way of exciting new collaborations and colorways. The latest in the lineup is British singer-songwriter Ama, who has teamed with Salomon to serve up the Ama x Salomon XT-Whisper Void in partnership with her creative agency, I Came Home Late Studios.

The revamped Whisper lands in a whimsical Vanilla Ice / Fusion Coral / Emberglow colorway, with each color design connected to a deeper meaning inspired by the sea and the strength of Japanese “Ama” divers – women who descended into the ocean for centuries in pursuit of harvesting pearls.

The white speaks to the “treasure sought in silence,” while the coral orange represents “a flash of life—vivid, raw, and the same shade that warms the gloves of the divers,” and seaweed green pays proper homage to the greenery that lives beneath the undercurrents. Functionality-wise, the new collaborative Whipser Void comes complete with the classic Sensifi™ and Quicklace precision fit, as well as an Agile Chassis system that ensures stability, support, and grip.

“Number one (reason to wear Salomon) is functionality, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if you’re a fashion girl, there’s nothing more annoying than having shoes that don’t feel good,” Ama elaborated in a press statement, pointing to her personal affinity for the brand that served as the core footing for the collaborative venture.

“They’re also subdued in terms of branding, so they can go with everything. If I’m on a small trip, I’ll take one pair of Salomons and I know I can go for a hike in the woods or wear them to dinner without anyone looking at me crazy. They’re really easily transposable across lots of different outfits, but also understated and chic.”
