Doechii Joins Westside Gunn for Full-Circle "Egypt" Remix
The original track sampled the Swamp Princess’ Apple Music interview with Ebro Darden.
After earning her first top 10 album with Alligator Bites Never Heal earlier this week, Doechii has returned with a full-circle remix of Westside Gunn’s ”Egypt.”
On his The Heels Have Eyes EP released in April, Gunn sampled the “Anxiety” rapper’s Apple Music interview with Ebro Darden in the opening bars of the original track. In the clip, Doechii says, “One hundred percent/ You know, recently I’ve been into a lot of MF DOOM (OK)/ Rest in peace (Yup)/ I’ve been into a lot of MF DOOM, um/ Westside Gunn (Mhm), love him, he’s so talented (Super)/ So incredible.”
Following the song’s initial release, Doechii took to X to write, “Westside Gunn just sampled me so pretty much kiss the blackest part of my a** and choke on a side ways d***! He snapped omg.”
Now, the Swamp Princess has put her official stamp on the song with a high-octane verse, in which she raps, “Roberto Cavalli, see the nipples through my shirt / My Daisy Dukes prolly drag a n**** through the dirt / Snuck up on his mama, hit the n**** where it hurts / Smith Wess’ on the Glock, double C’s on the purse.”
After releasing the remix, Gunn to X to thank Doechii for her contribution to the track: ““I wanna thank @officialdoechii for this Body Bag!!!! She’s ALWAYS gave me my [flowers emoji] and I’m forever grateful and humble, u didn’t have to bless me like this fresh from the Grammy win I REALLY [love heart emoji] this record it’s so FUN!!!!”
