Milan-based design firm Dimore Studio has been tapped by Orient Express to design a luxury Italian rail experience called “La Dolce Vita.” Drawing inspiration from Italian design masters and the “golden age of the 1960s,” the train is characterized by elegant interior finishes that blend traditional luxury train aesthetics with contemporary flair.

The train houses 18 Suites, 12 Deluxe cabins, and one La Dolce Vita Suite, each carefully designed with ornate fabrics, richly-colored palettes, and luxurious wooden and metallic interiors. The studio, founded by by Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran, imbues its rich design language into the cozy suites. The Deluxe cabin features mirrored back walls and wooden slat ceilings, with a patterned sofa that unfolds to a double bed, and a private bathroom. The Suite cabins, don’t hold back on luxury either, boasting a sofa and a table with two armchairs, accentuated by vibrant hues of orange, terracotta, and purple.

In addition to suites the restaurant led by three-Michelin-starred Chef Heinz Beck and the communal lounge offer guests room to further experience “Italian conviviality.” In addition to fine Italian gastronomy, the dining car offers a jewel-box experience, boasting reflective chrome walls, striped wall-wall carpeting, and mid-century inspired seating upholstered with bold orange leather.

La Dolce Vita Orient Express offers eight Italian itineraries, including a Tuscan vineyard trip, a Venice and Portofino trip, and a Rome to Sicilly trip. Each of the offerings includes cultural, historical and gastronomic experiences tailored to each destination and journey.
