Bao Bao, Issey Miyake’s much-adored geometric bag line, has found its first home in the United States. The storied brand is setting up shop smack dab in the center of New York City’s SoHo neighborhood, right on the corner of Prince and Wooster Streets.
Designed by Japanese imprint Moment, the 513-square-foot store boasts an interior layout inspired by “irori,” or a traditional Japanese fireplace that unites families for shared experiences. Thus, the shop boasts a central light fixture that illuminates the center of the room, inviting shoppers to view the brand’s offerings from around an aluminum table.
To celebrate the opening, Bao Bao Issey Miyake is set to launch a store-exclusive collection titled “Lucent Love,” which will include a series of all-red totes, crossbodies, and pouches.
