Sony Pictures has released the official trailer for the long-awaited horror sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer. The trailer teases the return of franchise mainstays Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. reprising their roles as Julie James and Ray Bronson respectively.

The upcoming bloody slasher is slated to be directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and co-written by Robinson and Sam Lansky. The latest sequel is the fourth film of the franchise and is the direct sequel to the 1998 original that follows a group of friends as they become haunted by a hook-handed killer one year after they killed a man in a hit-and-run accident.

Starring alongside Hewitt and Prinze Jr. are newcomers, Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Lola Tung, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Austin Nichols, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Jonah Hauer-King, Billy Campbell and Gabbriette. While Sarah Michelle Gellar had confirmed that she was approached to reprise the role of Helen Shivers, she declined to come back. Camila Mendes was originally expected to star but due to scheduling conflicts, she could not move forward with the horror sequel.

I Know What You Did Last Summer releases in theaters on July 18. Watch the trailer above.
