Tracksmith is stepping into the “super shoe” market with its newest footwear silhouette: the minimal, ultra-speedy Eliot Racer. Featuring a full-length carbon fiber plate nestled under a drop-in TPU and Pebax foam midsole, the Eliot Racer aims to offer a race-day-ready experience that eliminates as much glue and as many layers as possible to minimize weight and maximize comfort.
The shoe’s drop-in construction differentiates it from other models on the market by replacing the standard midsole system — carbon plate, midsole, strobel and insole — with a single thick slab of foam: in short, the insole and the midsole are one piece, eliminating the need for a strobel, the thin piece of material that usually seperates an insole from a midsole. The forefoot offers a roomy fit to allot for the foot swelling that occurs during long-distance runs, while the heel is made more slender to increase lockdown. Aesthetic-wise, the Eliot Racer’s shape is sleeker and more minimal than other models in its category, as most “super shoes” feature a thick foam midsole, while Tracksmith’s signature racing stripe is present on the midfoot for a dash of branded flair.

Two colorways of the Eliot Racer are slated for release: it’ll debut in white and gold, with a navy and gold colorway following later in the year. The first colorway is available now via Tracksmith’s brick-and-mortar shops in New York City, Boston and London, and will release online March 18. MSRP is set at $280 USD.
