LEGO To Release 'The Lord of the Rings' Shire Set

LEGO is forever expanding the buildable fantasy. This time, the iconic brand has teamed up with ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products to recreate a breathtakingly detailed The Shire set.

The multi-scene set perfectly captures Bilbo Baggins’ eleventy-first birthday celebration, including his green-doored hobbit hole and eight companion characters. The additional minifigure pieces are Frodo, Gandalf the Grey, Merry, Pippin, Rosie Cotton, Samwise Gamgee, Mrs. Proudfoot, and Farmer Proudfoot.

For interactive elements, fans will be able to mimic the burning letter’s transformation into The One Ring alongside a recreated dragon fireworks scene. Additional features include Gandalf’s horse and cart, the Party Tree, a party pavilion, and Bilbo’s book, all joining to bring the magic of the scene to life.

Sean Astin, the actor who played Samwise Gamgee, also starred in a mini-film to celebrate the product’s release. The video, which features the 2,017-piece diorama, shows Astin taking viewers on a personal tour through the set, mirroring the Osgiliath monologue from the real films.

The LEGO ‘Lord of the Rings’ Shire Set retails for $269.99 and will be available online and in stores on April 5. Fans who purchase before April 8 will also receive a LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: Sméagol & Déagol minibuild as a complimentary gift.
