Seiko’s Latest Presage Craftsmanship Timepiece Features a White Enamel Dial
A modern take on its 1895 Timekeeper model.
Seiko has introduced a new addition to its Presage Craftsmanship Series, featuring an Enamel Dial with Roman Numerals. This timepiece pays homage to the Japanese watch brand’s long history of precision timekeeping, while also celebrating its iconic railroad watches.
The new Presage timepiece, going by the reference number SPB495J1, is inspired by one of Seiko’s earliest creations — the 1895 Timekeeper pocket watch holds significance as one of the brand’s first ventures into the realm of precision timekeeping. This historical reference emphasizes Seiko’s enduring commitment to accuracy and craftsmanship.
In 1929, the brand’s Type 19 Pocket Watch became the first pocket watch to be designated as a railroad watch in Japan. The design of these watches retained the basic style and dimensions of the fob watch while continuously evolving to enhance accuracy and legibility.
The new Presage timepiece faithfully recreates the dial of the original Timekeeper, featuring a white enamel dial with a rail track design encircling the perimeter. Adorned with Roman numerals, the handset are doused in a metallic blue, imbuing a touch of color to the clean dial.
Powering the SPB495J1 is Seiko’s in-house 6R5H automatic caliber, boasting a 24-hour indicator at 6 o’clock, a three-day power reserve and an accuracy of -15/+25 seconds per day. It is completed with a black calf leather strap sourced from an LWG-certified tanner, ensuring both quality and sustainability.
