Every February, as watch prices increase, Patek Philippe makes way for new novelties ahead of Watches & Wonders by discontinuing a number of references from its current catalog.

The Nautilus is perhaps one of Patek Philippe’s most iconic, widely-loved and highly coveted models of all time — it’s no surprise that any changes made to the lineup will cause quite a stir within the watch community. This time, the prestigious Maison has put an end to a handful of Nautilus models: the Moonphase Ref. 5712/1A-001, Ref. 5719/10G-010, Ref. 7118/1A-010 as well as its 7118-1200A-010 variant.

First introduced in 2006, the now-discontinued Nautilus Moonphase Ref. 5712/1A-001 was initially released in celebration of the Nautilus’ 40th anniversary. While this stunning timepiece has since become one of the longest-running variants of its kind, its reign wasn’t without a few bumps. Back in 2021, the reference was rumored to be de-listed, which led to an influx in prices and demand on the pre-owned market.

While the loss of the Nautilus Moonphase Ref. 5712/1A-001 is devastating for fans, Patek Philippe’s latest cut also affects other notable series: Aquanaut, Calatrava, Grand Complication and the Split-Seconds Chronograph. The affected references include the Aquanaut Ref. 5167/1A-001 on a steel bracelet, the Calatrava Travel Time Ref. 5524G in 42mm white gold with a blue dial, the gold Grand Complication Ref. 5208R-01 and the Split-Seconds Chronograph Ref. 5370P-011 featuring a Grande Feu enamel blue dial.
