In a recent episode of Steven Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO podcast, MrBeast sat down for a personal and hard-hitting conversation that delved into the person behind MrBeast, Jimmy Donaldson. At just the age of 26, he is the world’s most successful YouTuber. Bartlett’s conversation with Donaldson gives fans a glimpse into what made MrBeast the way he is today and his influences leading up to creating the MrBeast persona and YouTube channels.

Donaldson opened up about his life and businesses and was asked if he was a billionaire and one point in the interview. Donaldson confirmed that he was in fact a billionaire, but only “on paper.” He revealed, “Yeah. But in my actual bank account, I have less than one million.” He continues, “[I pay myself] a little bit, but I also have some assistants and things like that, so I try to pay myself what I spend personally, a month, just to stay even.” On his business acumen, MrBeast sees money as “fuel to grow a business.” He urges others to look for business opportunities that they “enjoy, are better for mother nature, or Earth, or people” so to reach a more “fulfilled life.”

In other parts of the interview, Donaldson discusses his mental health and whether or not being a YouTuber makes him happy. He also shared that he has contemplated quitting the platform as well as some of his philanthropic ventures that he leans into. Watch the full podcast interview above.
