In this monthly series, Chrono24 will be providing background on some of the most coveted luxury watches in the pre-owned market based on real-time findings from its global marketplace.

Every month, five models will be spotlighted by Chrono24’s in-house experts. The selection is based on monthly analytics, with each piece meeting all four criteria: 1) The watch must receive a critical mass of supply as well as demand, 2) There must be a significant percentage increase in inquiries and offers compared to the previous month as the reference period, 3) The search queries for the watch model must exceed a critical threshold defined from the data set, 4) The available listings per model must exceed a critical threshold defined from the data set.

OMEGA Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional White 310.30.42.50.04.001

One of OMEGA’s newest Speedys, the Moonwatch Professional White dial watch launched just under a year ago in March 2024. OMEGA lovers are some of the most die-hard of the bunch, given the unceasing love for the Speedmaster in its many variations. The unveiling of the 310.30.42.50.04.001 model stoked those flames of affection in a big way, relentlessly teasing eagle eyes with red carpet wrist sightings on 007, Daniel Craig, for months before launch.  Aesthetically speaking, the white lacquered dial and its red “Speedmaster” logo peaked the thirst of collectors, and since its March 2024 arrival, demand has steadily increased on Chrono24, nearly tripling by the end of last month.

Rolex Datejust 36 16220 (Black Dial)

This 36mm Datejust from Rolex is perhaps one of the crowned brand’s most versatile timepieces. With a unisex size and a black dial, this Oyster is seemingly made for everyday wear. The chronometer-certified caliber 3135 and quick-set date function double down to make this a reliably giftable timepiece, if not a wise self-splurge. The 16220 was produced between the late ’80s to the mid ’00s and is a perfectly sleek representation of the Rolex standard. On Chrono24, the 16220 has ridden the valuation roller coaster of price reckoning that happened since the wild spikes during the pandemic, but January 2025 saw this model’s highest peak in demand since November as well as January 2023 before that.

When Tudor launched its first Black Bay in 2012, it marked a major moment in the brand’s comeback of sorts — Rolex’s sister company had semi-sleepily existed before its 00s resurgence. Born for the water, the Black Bay M7941A1A0NU-0003 boasts a METAS-certified Master Chronometer and a thinner, better-gripped case than its earlier incarnations. On Chrono24, demand for this model has increased by approximately 25% over the past six months, peaking at its highest level since its market introduction. And it doesn’t hurt that the Black Bay has been spotted on the wrists of the likes of John Mayer, Brad Pitt and Will Smith.

Grand Seiko Heritage Collection SBGA413

Grand Seiko lovers are hardcore. Their affinity for the brand’s beyond expert-level finishings is well warranted, so the spike in popularity for the brand’s “Shunbun” SBGA413 makes sense. The real callout in this model is its own fascinating Spring Drive movement, which manages to combine a Quartz movement with a mechanical one that unites the best of both worlds in accuracy and smoothness. Add in the textured “flake” dial and its titanium case, and you’ve got an almost-grail watch that is happily a bit less common than other Grand Seiko models. Demand on Chrono24 doubled throughout 2024 and reached an all-time high by the end of January 2025.

TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph CBS2210.FC6534

Watch enthusiasts frequently refer to this TAG Heuer model as the “Glassbox” chronograph, dripping in vintage references that pay homage to the brand’s earlier Carrera models from the previous 60 years. The “Glassbox” effect delivers a dome-shaped covering, leaving the watch without a typical bezel. You still get a tachymeter, but the scale is relocated to a nontraditional spot – inside the crystal on the dial. On Chrono24, demand for this Carrera has moved steadily upward, peaking in January 2025 since its market arrival. Plus, this 39mm is an easy fit for most, among those fans: Ryan Gosling, Mick Jagger and Chris Hemsworth.
