Take a Look Inside time&space’s London-Based Design Atelier
For the second installment of ‘Creative Alcoves’ with Habitat, Armand Da Silva shares an exclusive look into the influences behind his curatorial vision.
Following our journey into Tallula Christie and her family’s home for the Christmas holidays, Hypebeast reunites with Habitat for the second episode of Creative Alcoves. Having recently received exclusive insight into some of his iconic pieces for Essentials, we now take a tour of time&space with co-founder Armand Da Silva.
From the vintage monitors showcasing Akira to the space-age furniture and homeware accessories, when entering the southeast London atelier, you’re instantly hit with an air of nostalgia. “We mainly collect the iconic pieces from the ‘60s and ‘70s, but then sometimes it might slip into the 2000s,” Da Silva explains what time&space offers. “When we curate the pieces, they all come together in harmony.”
As well as having people visit for appointment-only sessions, time&space also hosts a range of themed events from film screenings to parties celebrating the design world. “Our events bring our community together and allow people to experience, engage and learn about design,” he says when asked to describe its mission. And despite furniture being the key source of entry for most, time&space prides itself on housing and preserving vintage objects, books and memorabilia spanning the whole of contemporary culture where “there’s something here that will appeal to everyone.”
Delving into his most unique pieces, some of which he broke down in his previous feature, Da Silva explains that the atelier’s offering goes beyond activations where “we hire furniture for shoots and events. We also offer a consultation service where we source furniture globally.”
With Habitat possessing a rich legacy shaping modern British interiors, and recently exploring its extensive archive to reimagine iconic homeware pieces, the latest Spring/Summer 2025 collection pays homage to the brand’s history. In particular, the timeless design features integrate seamlessly into time&space. Pieces like the Dawson Chair which boasts an “aesthetic and design” that “gives me mid-century vibes” and the minimalism of the Yuno Lamp both find a natural home within his carefully curated interior.
