Enter Tallula Christie’s Home As She Prepares for the Holidays
Discover how she and her family get into the festive spirit featuring Habitat’s latest winter range.
With the holidays right around the corner and the festive spirit kicking in, preparation is at the top of the agenda. From home decoration and food prep to wrapping gifts, every detail needs to be meticulously planned — and that’s especially true if you’re hosting.
For the debut episode of the Creative Alcoves series in partnership with Habitat, Tallula Christie gives Hypebeast exclusive access to her London home. The three-storey apartment boasts minimalist interiors and iconic furniture pieces that contrast with the vibrant artwork collection from her partner Olaolu Slawn, all the while offering a sanctuary for her family away from the spotlight.
“When it comes to hosting, the thing I’m known for is either flowers or the chaos of kids,” Christie explains. Pulling back the curtain on her annual routine — whether it’s cooking, spending quality time with her children, or reorganizing her space — getting ready for the holidays is a family affair. With her eldest son now just old enough to appreciate the festivities, it’s just as much for the kids as it is for the adults she hosts, saying, “The thing I’m looking forward to the most about this Christmas is really bringing the magic for my two-year-old.”
Featuring bold patterns and classic prints, Habitat’s latest winter range comprises cookware, dinner sets, soft furnishings, and more all adorned in the primary colors synonymous with the holidays.
With every room covered and the festive spirit unlocked, Christie breaks down the various tasks required to curate her space into the perfect hosting ground as well as how dressing the collection complements her interior aesthetic.
Lounge
First impressions are lasting, and as the first space visitors are invited into, the lounge is arguably the most important space in a home when hosting. Here, we’re greeted with a low-profile tan leather sofa and, inevitably, artwork that adorns the walls. Their lounge, as Christie explains while arranging a bouquet, is “the mixture of texture, scale, and color where you see my personality the most.”
Kitchen
Food is the ultimate form of comfort, and the kitchen always becomes the de-facto social hub during any gathering. Boasting an inviting open-plan arrangement, Christie’s “favorite part is that it opens up to the dining space,” not only giving her peace of mind as she overlooks the play area where her children keep themselves entertained while she cooks but also doesn’t feel left out when visitors are present.
Dining
The place where that brings everyone together for the main event — days always culminate around the dinner table. Featuring the Tord Boontje-designed glassware, the sleek minimal layout, however, contrasts with the larger-than-life canvas hanging behind showcasing Slawn’s signature characters. “The first thing people notice is the artwork,” she expresses, recalling people’s initial reactions when coming to visit.
Bedroom
Rest after a long day — or weekend — is a necessity. As the bedroom is one’s private sanctuary, protecting that peace with aesthetically pleasing comforts is essential. “This is the coziest room in the house,” Christie explains. “I like these bedsheets because of how playful they are. It’s like you’re in another world,” breaking down Habitat’s Christmas Festive Wide Stripe Bedding Set from its latest collection.
