Louis Vuitton’s Escale Platinum Wristwatch Spotlights a Métiers D’Art Dial
Starring a Grand Feu and guilloché enameled dial in a mesmerizing blue.
The latest iteration of the Louis Vuitton Escale pays homage to the Maison’s hallmarked trunk. Handcrafted by four master artisans, each dial showcases the finest crafts of grand feu enamel, guilloché as well as a blend of champlevé and flinqué techniques,
The process begins on a solid gold disc, where it’s milled and engraved to create an intricate, hypnotically radial pattern in a mystic blue hue. The dial is then adorned with enamel, a delicate process that requires precise mixing of pigments to achieve a lustrous, translucent finish. The enamel is applied not only to the front but also to the reverse of the dial to prevent deformation during firing. This process involves firing the dial at high temperatures multiple times until the desired finish is achieved, revealing the guilloche pattern through the translucent enamel.
Each quarter-hour-marker is made of solid 18k white gold, accompanied by lance-shaped hour and minute hands and a lightweight titanium central seconds hand. The platinum case, complete with signature “rivet” lugs inspired by Louis Vuitton’s trunks, houses the Geneva Observatory-certified, LFT023 chronometer caliber. Developed in collaboration with Le Cercle des Horlogers, the movement features a 22-carat rose gold micro-rotor, complete with a 50-hour power reserve.
Housed in platinum, the 39mm timepiece is built with a sapphire crystal caseback, offering a glimpse into its inner workings. To complement the dial, the watch is paired with blue calf leather strap/ Limited to just 50 pieces, the Louis Vuitton Escale Platinum has a price tag of €75,000 EUR (approx. $78,501 USD) and is open for inquiry via the Maison.
