The Walt Disney Studios has officially cemented its dominance as the premier force in global cinema, becoming the first and only studio to surpass the $6 billion USD mark in total worldwide ticket sales for 2025. This historic achievement, propelled by a diverse slate of 16 wide releases, solidifies Disney’s strongest performance since its record-breaking 2019 campaign. This is Disney’s fifth time surpassing the $6 billion USD mark with the previous years being 2019, 2018, 2017 and 2016.

The studio’s $6 billion USD total is comprised of a market-leading $2.3 billion USD domestic haul and a massive $3.65 billion USD from international markets. While Disney reached this milestone several days ahead of schedule, the tipping point was the meteoric success of Avatar: Fire and Ash. James Cameron’s latest masterpiece has already racked up over $450 million USD globally, with China leading the international charge at $67 million USD.

Disney’s 2025 success was anchored by the only two films to reach the billion-dollar milestone this year: the animated powerhouse Zootopia 2 ($1.3 billion USD) and the live-action reimagining of Lilo & Stitch ($1.038 billion USD). The Marvel Cinematic Universe also played a vital role, with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Thunderbolts*, and Captain America: Brave New World combining for over $1.3 billion USD. Other notable contributors included the record-breaking Predator: Badlands, which became the franchise’s highest-grossing entry, and the nostalgic hit Freakier Friday.
