The future is square.

Summary

Peugeot is challenging over a century of automotive design tradition with the Polygon Concept, a futuristic electric vehicle that debuts the revolutionary Hypersquare steering system. Living out a futuristic dream, the French automaker insists that the rectangular, video game-inspired controller is a “tangible reality” set for production integration starting in 2027.

The true innovation lies in the Steer-by-Wire technology. By removing the physical steering column and relying entirely on electronic signals, the Hypersquare achieves “exceptional responsiveness and precision.” This software-based system eliminates the need for drivers to cross their hands during parking or tight city maneuvers, as it offers a maximum rotation of only 170° in each direction. It is designed to be a more instinctive and agile control system.

The interior experience is equally radical. The conventional instrument cluster is gone, replaced by a massive Micro-LED display projected directly onto the windscreen, giving the driver a large, clean view of all critical information. The Polygon Concept, which is a working prototype, also emphasizes sustainability and modularity, using recycled materials and 3D-printed parts throughout its design. This daring concept firmly positions Peugeot at the forefront of the next generation of automotive HMI (Human-Machine Interface).
