Studio Ellipsis has officially announced its debut game, Nightholme, a multiplayer PvPvE (Player vs Player vs Environment) horror extraction game coming to PC and console. The studio, led by Alexandre Amancio, an industry veteran and former creative director of titles such as Assassin’s Creed Revelations and Assassin’s Creed Unity.
Nightholme is set in a corrupted fantasy world infested by an entity called Gloom, where rival teams of players hunt and fight to survive against each other and the environment. The game’s most innovative feature is its dynamic transformation gameplay, where players choose a character called a Grimrunner and can transform into deadly, horrific creatures by drinking a mysterious transforming potion known as Nocturn. This mechanic offers unique tactical depth, as transformed archetypes possess their own distinct skills and playstyles, ensuring every session provides a fresh and unpredictable experience.
The game blends cosmic and classic horror tropes and features expansive open-world city environments full of spontaneously occurring encounters and escalating boss fights. Victorious squads are rewarded with Terror Seeds, which grant powerful, permanent abilities for future sessions, driving sustained and immersive gameplay progression.
Studio Ellipsis has confirmed that more details will be shared in early 2026, with closed and open beta opportunities leading up to an early access launch.
