Sundae School Suits Up for Lunar New Year

Or should we say *fleeces up…

Sundae School is back to celebrate the Lunar New Year with its first capsule of 2025. Led by a “Boba Fleece,” the Dae Lim-helmed label’s commemorative Year of the Snake range is a perfect example of just what Sundae School is all about: embracing but reimagining Asian-American heritage in a way that feels authentic to its brand ethos.

When Hypebeast sat down with Lim back in September for the release of the “Resilience” Fall/Winter 2024 collection, Lim expressed the importance of not just staying true to the brand’s cultural heritage, but also pushing the needle on certain cultural traditions and conversations.

“We want to honor our heritage while moving it forward. We’re breaking some of the rules that our ancestors set up for us, but that’s part of the process. You have to break in order to rebuild,” Lim said at the time.

In addition to the Boba Fleece – a new version of Sundae School’s slightly cropped fleece, this time around featuring boba flowered sleeves – the collection consists of a lineup of unisex bedazzled hoodies and two colorways of an Asymmetric Zip-Up Jacket. Rounding out the release comes a handful of logoed beanies and a Mochi Lighter Case.
