The ‘Slam Dunk’ x Air Jordan 23 “Takehiko Inoue” Sample Has Surfaced
A canceled concept from the end of the ’00s.
An unreleased collaborative sample between Jordan Brand and Slam Dunk has surfaced. Revealed via a @solesupreme Instagram post, the Air Jordan 23 sample was said to be a regional concept design between 2008 and 2009.
While previous and existing collaborations between the brand and the culturally iconic basketball manga often incorporated character and team-centric palettes, this canceled Air Jordan 23 model took on a less conventional approach.
Dressed in a textured black upper, the shoe incorporates colorful details that brighten the sides and toes. The multicolored embroidery on the quarters is scattered with Kanji characters that make up Takehiko Inoue’s – Slam Dunk’s author – name. Meanwhile, the corresponding decorative toe features Michael Jordan’s signature.
Adding bold color contrast to the sneaker, the midsole comes fitted in a glossy turquoise hue. Meanwhile, the insole showcases a low-angle-view of a male figure dribbling a ball.
