Update: JJJJound closed out September by unveiling its latest project with ASICS, taking on the GT-2160 in two slick colorways. Now, the minimalism experts have gone ahead and announced the project as we quickly near its launch. Drawing inspiration from ’00s runners, “White/Black” and “Black/Pure Silver” looks both feature mesh and synthetic layering with JJJJound branding present at the heel and sockliner. Release is scheduled to begin on October 31 with select retailers such as HBX dropping the collaboration in the weeks to follow.
Original Story: On Monday morning JJJJound announced its next collaboration with ASICS, nearing three years since the partnership introduced its take on the Japanese sneaker brand’s GEL-Kayano 14s in 2022. In an Instagram post captioned “JJJJ ASICS FW24,” two new variations of the GT-2160 are pictured in two chrome dressed, black-and-white colorways.

In the spirit of the Montreal-based studio’s discreet aesthetic approach to iteration, the most exciting features come to light in the details. Small carbon fiber overlays from the heel to toe caps subtly elevate the pair with premium accents, while wide gauge mesh uppers provide the body of the pairs with a deeper texture.
The lighter colorway boasts a titanium white upper with silver and black overlays and accented with neon word marks on the tongue cushion and heel. The other is all-black and in most of its details from the sole to the uppers, but silver outlines along the overlays, typefaces and laces emphasize the effect of the design.
The JJJJound x ASICS GT-2160 model also reads more contemporary than the previously released GEL-Kayano 14, which carried a retro design aesthetic with chunkier details and off-white soles. The GT-2160 is noticeably sleek in shape, enhanced by vertical lines molded into the midsoles. The model has received a recent push from ASICS with collaborations including partners like Above the Clouds, Carnival, and Kiko Kostadinov.
The brands have yet to share the full details on the sneaker’s pricing and availability, but the “FW24” caption hints that the JJJJound GT-2160 will be dropping soon this season. Stay tuned for more updates on release information from Hypebeast.
