Singer Built Porsche 911 Targa “Sotto Commission” Up for Auction
Listed by Sotheby’s Sealed and estimated to sell for as much as $1,500,000 USD.
Sotheby’s Sealed is set to auction off the stunning Porsche 911 Targa “Sotto Commission,” reimagined by Singer Vehicle Design. This car marks a significant milestone as the 300th Classic Study, based on a 1990 964-generation 911 Targa. It’s powered by Singer’s 4.0L flat-six engine, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and a rear-wheel-drive layout.
This particular model, finished in Resistance Blue with a Citrus Orange interior, boasts the highest performance specifications available in Singer’s Classic Study lineup. It features Ohlins adjustable suspension and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, highlighting Singer’s commitment to precision and performance. The Sotto Commission, completed in December 2023, has seen less than 100 miles, primarily the result of testing and delivery. It remains in pristine condition, reflecting Singer’s meticulous craftsmanship.
Singer Vehicle Design, founded 15 years ago, has grown from a small Los Angeles shop to a globally renowned firm. Their mission to perfect the air-cooled Porsche 911 has earned them acclaim in the restomod world. With only 450 Classic Studies to be produced, each car is a bespoke commission, embodying Singer’s motto of “Everything is Important.”
The Sotto Commission is equipped with exclusive features like light ghosted stripes, nickel-plated bumperettes and a titanium sports exhaust. Its interior includes carbon bucket seats and a Porsche Classic navigation system, showcasing the blend of vintage aesthetics and modern technology.
As the production of Classic Studies nears its end, prices for low mileage examples like the Sotto are rising astronomically, with RM Sotheby’s estimating the car will sell for as much as $1,500,000 USD. Those interested in viewing or bidding on the vehicle will be able to do so starting August 12, as part of the auction house’s Monterey sale.
