Porsche Design Celebrates 50 Years of the 911 Turbo with Two Exclusive Chronographs

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the iconic Porsche 911 Turbo, Porsche Design has unveiled two limited-edition watches that embody the spirit and performance of the legendary sports car. These exclusive timepieces are crafted with precision and represent a nod to Porsche’s storied history.

The first in the lineup is the Chronograph 911 Turbo 50 Years, a tribute to the first 911 Turbo unveiled in 1974. This timepiece, limited to fitting 1,974 units, is available exclusively to the owners of the new 911 Turbo 50 Years special model. It features a lightweight titanium case, reflecting the car’s commitment to minimal weight and maximum performance. The case back is engraved with the vehicle’s limited-edition number, reinforcing the watch’s close connection to the sports car.

Notably, the design of the Chronograph 911 Turbo 50 Years mirrors the high-performance aesthetics of its automotive counterpart, with a winding rotor modeled after the 911 Turbo’s wheel. The classic black leather strap, made from authentic Porsche vehicle leather, is accented with Porsche’s original yarn in Turbonite, adding to the watch’s distinctive appeal. Priced at $12,553 USD, this timepiece represents a chance to own a piece of Porsche history.

The second release, the Chronograph 1 – 50 Years 911 Turbo Edition, is a modern homage to the original Chronograph I, designed by Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche in 1972. Limited to just 500 pieces, this watch is a must-have for Turbo enthusiasts. Its titanium case, finished with a black titanium carbide coating, pays tribute to the advanced materials used in the evolution of the 911 Turbo. The dial, inspired by the instrument panel of the first 911 Turbo, features white hands and indices for optimal readability, with a red stop-second hand adding a sporty touch.

Powered by the Porsche Design caliber WERK 01.240 with a flyback function, the Chronograph 1 ensures precision in every moment. Available for $12,000 USD, this edition is offered at Porsche Design Stores and online, appealing to both vintage and modern Porsche fans. It’s also worth noting that both watches feature a nod to Porsche’s signature Fuchs wheels at the case back.
