Fred again.. put his spin on Joy Orbison‘s “flight fm” with the help of Playboi Carti, Future and Lil Yachty.
Entitled “flex fm (freddit),” the cut is a fusion of Orbison’s hit and Yachty’s own “Flex Up,” and was first previewed by the pair earlier this February at a pair of shows. Orbison shared a clip of the two on Instagram and publicly stamped his seal of approval, writing, “i was thinking about dj narrows & mampi swift records when i made flight. also, thinking bout listening to flight and flex fm from my bedroom, back when you had to have that annoying plastic cord thing half way up the wall to listen to any radio station, let alone a pirate.”
He continued, “i love that this track has reached so many people outside of any cultural or sonic ideas i had about it, that’s one of the most enjoyable things about making music. basic channels phylps trak ii was garage to my ears, oizo’s flat beat too. flex was flight but now it’s something new, now atlanta’s involved.”
“however you hear it,” Oribson stated, “i hope you enjoy it…”
