Dubbed the “world’s greenest football club,” Gloucestershire football club Forest Green Rovers melds sustainability with soccer in many initiatives, marking the only vegan F.C. – which will soon be home to the world’s first all-timber stadium. The latest eco-friendly move from the club comes in the form of kits for the 2024/2025 season.

Designed in partnership with official kit collaborator Umbro, the club’s new bamboo fabric kits feature climate change numbers, etching data onto a hidden band in the neck lining and along the side seam. The F.C. also worked alongside University of Reading’s Show Your Stripes campaign and implemented a graphic from climate scientist Ed Hawkins and a graph from University of Derby professor Miles Richardson. Hawkins’ graphic visualizes the rise in average global temperatures from 1850 to today, while Richardon’s contribution comes as his biodiversity stripes graph, which shows the loss of UK wildlife since 1970. A pink colorway lands for away games and a green colorway is for training.

“We’ve taken big strides to bring sustainability into every facet of what we do as a club. Continuing to find ways to raise awareness of the climate crisis is in our DNA,” said Dale Vince, Forest Green Rovers chairman, to Dezeen.

“Forest Green’s new kits turn players and supporters into climate ambassadors, transforming each match into an opportunity to inspire action and acknowledge the urgent need for global climate solutions,” said Hawkins. “Football unites people, and now it can unite fans in the fight against climate change.”
