Luka Sabbat's Marking Distance Unveils First Collection
Reimagining classic American style codes across a striking selection of denim, leather and distressed garments.
One of streetwear’s most trusted style arbiters, Luka Sabbat is hopping into the driver’s seat with his newly launched label Marking Distance. Founded alongside designer James Pierce, Marking Distance has just lifted the curtain on its first fully-fledged collection for Spring/Summer 2024, which sees the rookie outfitter begin to establish its design ethos through a lineup of garments that respin classic American style codes, silhouettes and motifs.
A compelling compilation of apparel, Sabbat and Piece lean into tattered denim styles and staple leather goods, stamping American glag embroidery on vests and jackets, and even attaching a hand-distressed flag to a pair of jeans.
The “Tommy Jeans” actually combine the collection’s main mediums, combining the light-wash-denim pants with layered leather chaps.
Collegiate style influences are also a prominent player in the range, surfacing in oversized hoodies, sweaters adorned with leather patches, cheerleader tees and a Notre Dame bomber jacket. Leather garments and loungewear alike are elevated with chain detailing as well.
Another standout piece is the “Orthodox Suit,” which takes a pinstripe pattern and, on the backside, features a reimagined cross insignia embroidered.
