Paul Smith and Fender Unveil Their First Collaborative Collection
A seamless fusion of music culture and the creative spirit of two iconic brands.
Paul Smith and Fender have unveiled their first-ever capsule collection, a collaboration rooted in music, design, and impeccable craftsmanship.
Anticipating 2026—which marks both Sir Paul Smith’s 80th birthday and Fender’s 80th anniversary—the two brands are launching an expansive lineup spanning apparel, accessories, and guitars. The release celebrates their shared dedication to originality, self-expression, and the art of making.
The collection draws inspiration from the rebellious spirit of rock ’n’ roll, the vibrant music culture of London’s Wardour Street during its record-shop heyday, and the meticulous nature of Japanese craftsmanship. By fusing Paul Smith’s signature palettes and playful graphics with Fender’s unmistakable design codes, the pieces perfectly reflect the unique identities of both brands.
The centerpiece of the launch is the Made in Japan Paul Smith Telecaster®. Based on Fender’s legendary Telecaster® model, this special edition boldly reimagines the instrument with Paul Smith’s signature stripe emblazoned across its body. It features an alder body paired with a Modern “C” shape maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, alongside custom-voiced neck and bridge pickups designed specifically for this collaboration. Meticulous details elevate the design, including a vintage-style three-saddle bridge, locking tuners, and an exclusive custom neck plate. The initial production run will also feature sequential serial numbers from 01 to 80.
The 16-piece apparel lineup features standout items like tie-dye tees, a varsity jacket, all-over print shirts, and a sharply tailored mod suit. Drawing on the atmosphere of music festivals, the “Meet at the Tree” graphic showcases a photograph of Paul Smith’s favorite tree in his hometown of Nottingham. Other designs incorporate sunflowers, the iconic signature stripe, and motifs nodding to Wardour Street’s legendary record shops and labels. Throughout the collection, deep ties to music culture take center stage, seamlessly blending elements like Paul Smith’s signature stripe with Fender’s classic spaghetti logo.
Rounding out the offering is a selection of guitar accessories, including a signature-stripe guitar strap and a 12-piece pick set rendered in varying colors and graphics. To capture the creativity and individuality both brands hold dear, the accompanying campaign is fronted by the fast-rising British four-piece band Legss.
The collection launches on Wednesday, October 21, at the Paul Smith official online store, as well as the brand’s Ginza, Marunouchi, Osaka, and Shibuya boutiques. It will also be available at Fender Flagship Tokyo and Fender’s official Japanese online shop. The Made in Japan Paul Smith Telecaster® retails for ¥440,000. Accessories include the guitar strap at ¥33,000 and the pick set at ¥5,500. The apparel offering includes a vinyl T-shirt for ¥12,000, tie-dye T-shirt for ¥18,000, all-over print shirt for ¥27,000, mod suit for ¥140,000, and varsity jacket for ¥160,000, along with a necktie priced at ¥16,000.
